Private Investigator & Mitigation Specialist
Amy Wallace grew up in New England and after graduating high school, spent many years traveling the world - visiting more than 24 countries and living abroad. Upon her return to the United States, she attended the University of Southern Maine. During her first three years, Amy studied foreign languages and spent a semester abroad studying in Paris, France. During her senior year of college, she discovered her passion for writing and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in media studies.
After graduation, Amy went on to work as a print journalist for a New Hampshire daily newspaper. In 2001, the New Hampshire Press Association named Amy the Daily Newspaper Rookie of the Year. She received other awards, including for investigative journalism from the New England Press Association.
In 2003, Amy began a career as a licensed private investigator for the New Hampshire Public Defender, where she worked for more than 12 years at the agency’s Stratham office.
Amy attended all criminal defense trainings at the New Hampshire Public Defender (NHPD). She has also attended trainings with the National Defender Investigator Association in Boston, Massachusetts and in Austin, Texas. She attended the Life in the Balance conference hosted by the National Legal Aid and Defense Association in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
While at NHPD, Amy’s criminal cases ranged from misdemeanors like shoplifting and DWI to felonies such as sexual assault and homicide.
At NHPD, her senior investigator level expertise was in mitigation investigations. She conducted program-wide trainings on social history investigations and she also conducted trainings on report writing in both the classroom and one-on-one sessions.
For mitigation investigations, Amy polled jurors, conducted social history interviews with clients, gathered and analyzed various types of records, and other investigations that helped attorneys prepare for the best possible sentencing outcomes for their clients.
Today, Amy continues that strong work ethic and professionalism with her own agency - AW Investigations, LLC. She continues to work with attorneys in criminal and mitigation work, and conducts investigations into other legal matters as well including insurance fraud, land and property disputes, personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits, human rights and commission complaints, civil cases, tenant and landlord disputes, divorce and child custody issues, and corporate matters.
Amy is a member of both the National Defender Investigator Association, and also the National Legal Aid & Defender Association. She continues her education by participating in various trainings.
Amy has extensive knowledge in all types of investigations and understands the great importance of accuracy and thoroughness of her work. She is ethical, extremely passionate, and is deeply committed to providing the best possible investigation for all of her clients.
